Kenya Rugby Sevens team Shujaa has landed back in Kenya From France. This is after their road came to an end at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics, where they were representing the country in the rugby series. Kenya Sevens was the First Team Kenya to get the action rolling in France. The team was off to a rough start after losing in their maiden pool B fixture against Argentina, who thrashed Shujaa 31 points to 12.

Despite the loss, the boys were still determined to secure a medal for Team Kenya by redeeming themselves in the subsequent Fixtures. However, things didn’t go as planned. Kenya sevens lost to Australia 7 points to 12 in their 2nd pool be match that evening.
Thereafter, Samoa slashed Shujaa 20 points to nil, which was their last fixture in the pooling stage. Shujaa has emerged 9th after registering a 10 to 5 win against Samoa. This was their second win in the Olympics, as it came after their 19 to 14 glory against Uruguay.
Shujaa’s coach kelvin wambua commended his players for what he termed as a job well done. Wambua has commended Kenya sevens for securing the ninth position. He has added that the performance performance was top considering some of the player had never been to the Olympics. “Majority of the players in the current team had never been to the Olympics. It’s just belief, and encouraging the boys. The boys showed that they have the skills and determination to play at the highest level”
After landing at the Jomo Kenyatta international airport, Kenya Sevens were received group of dancers and sponsors who commended them for a good job done. According to coach Wambua, Kenya sevens will now focus on preparation for the 2025 World SVNs Series having managed just two wins in the campaign.
