Netflix has announced the return of the Korean series Squid Game. Season 2 of the Survival drama series will premiere on the 26th of December 2024. The new season will see the familiar faces return to the Squid Game cast, including Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Gong Yoo, and Wi Ha-jun. The new season also comes with new faces. The Newcomers include Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, Park Sung-hoon, Jo Yu-ri, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Lee Jin-uk, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won, and Won Ji-an.
The show drops after three years of anticipation from squid game fans across the world. Up to 142 million households watched the first season of the Korean show. Gong Yoo, the actor who made a surprising cameo in the global hit series has noted that the filming schedule was very exciting for him and he had a lot of fun. Gong Yoo who appeared in a video for the WWD Korea, has urged fans to “Please look forward to it”.

On his side, Squid game director Hwang Dong-hyuk has promised that the new episodes will be “worth the wait. Executive producer Kim Ji- Yeon has seconded Hwang. Additionally, the producers of the Korean show have noted that season Three of the same show is in the works. “The cast and the crew are truly pouring their hearts and souls into filming the second season, I hope you stay tuned and root for us”
The official Netflix’s Instagram handle shared a sneak peek of the second season. The caption has left many fans with anticipation for more action. The caption read: “The real game begins. SQUID GAME SEASON 2 coming December 26. final season coming in 2025″
Season 1 introduced fans to the K-drama’s titular deadly game. The game forces citizens to gamble with their lives. In return, they may win a life changing cash prize, or suffer the dire consequences. It portrays the story of how 456 people face bankruptcy participating in a suicidal game. In the game the participants gamble with their lives winning a fortune of 45.6 billion Won or dying while playing the game.
