The first weekend of every quarter has transformed into an “Outside” weekend for Kenyans, inviting everyone to embrace the beauty of nature and community. On Saturday, 6th October 2024, the third edition of Blankets and Wine unfolded at the enchanting Laureate Gardens in Kasarani. During the day, families flocked the garden for an afternoon of bliss and family times. Children chased each other across the grass with their face painted in different patterns. The Adults were not left behind with their choice of outfits, everyone expressed themselves with a unique sense of style with sprinkles of Ankara, the African fabric.
The air was a delightful tapestry of aromas, courtesy of the food vendors on ground, offering a variety and f delicasies. From the smoky grilled meats, to spicy samosas, and sweet pastries not forgetting the Kenyan plate of Githeri, ugali and mokimo among many others. These created an irresistible invitation to feast that was Blanket, food, feasts and wine
. In this lively setting, the gentle strains of live music floated through the air, setting a relaxed yet joyful tone for the day.
Later that evening, the stage erupted with a vibrant mix of performances, each artist bringing their unique flair to the spotlight. South Africa’s award winning singer Nasty C took the stage captivating the audience with his electric energy and commanding presence. Kenya’s Celebrated Musician Karun graced the stage with her unique melodic and very soothing sound. On her Wanjine then stepped in, infusing the evening with her soulful depth; her emotive performance resonated profoundly, drawing listeners into the heartfelt narratives woven into her songs. Meanwhile, Fadhile Itulya’s infectious rhythms transformed the atmosphere, compelling everyone to dance and fully immerse themselves in the vibrant experience.
As the night continued, Charisma took his turn, enchanting the audience with his energy. Simmy followed, and her mesmerizing voice enveloped the venue in a warm embrace, creating an intimate connection with the audience. Each artist contributed to an unforgettable evening at Blankets and Wine, leaving the audience buzzing with excitement and those who didn’t attend dying with FOMO.
