The Kenyan entertainment arena is in a somber mood following the demise of actress Winnie Bwire Ndubi. Actress Winnie has succumbed a cancer warrior. According to her family, Bwire died on the 5th of September 2024, while receiving treatment in Turkey.in a statement the family notes:
“It is with heavy heart and humble acceptance that we announce Winfred Bwire Ndubi lost her battle to cancer while undergoing treatment in Turkey. We thank you all for your overwhelming support, prayers and generosity,”

This comes just a month after she appealed for financial assistance to facilitate her battle against the monsters. Bwire was looking to raise up to of Ksh.5 million that would facilitate her specialized medical treatment abroad. On the 14th of August, Bwire posted what would be her final video on social media. a heartfelt plea for help as she desperately sought treatment. With a tone of vulnerability, she addressed her fans and supporters, recounting her journey with optimism that had recently turned bleak.

“If you can support me, I have nothing to give in return, but you will save my life. I didn’t want this video to be emotional I wanted it to be filled with hope,” she said in the video.
Actress Winnie Bwire has battled the aggressive progression of metastatic breast cancer for upto two year before the deadly monster consumed her. These two years have involved a relentless struggle enduring various treatments and the toll of the disease which has claimed her life.

Winnie Bwire caught the public eye with her exemplary acting skills on the famous tv show ‘Sultana. Her role as ‘Dida’ in the show left many in awe of her Finesse and skill in the show. She would later feature in other projects including Kalimani Dynasty which also aired on Citizen TV among other projects.

In an interview with Citizen TV’s Lulu Hassan, Bwire opened up about her battle with breast cancer. She went on to share how she dismissed the early symptoms. She recounted how she first noticed swelling in her hand and an overwhelming fatigue but failed to link these signs to cancer, attributing her exhaustion to the demands of work stress.
